Ramadan Etiquette
Do’s:
Wish your Muslim friends “Ramadan Kareem” or “Ramadan Mubarak.”
Show respect for those who are fasting by abstaining from eating in front of them.
Accept dinner (iftar) invitations from friends, colleagues, and neighbors. It will be an opportunity to share cultures, whether you are fasting or not.
Listen to music quietly on headphones or in your house without disturbing others.
Be mindful of the fact that your Muslim peers are fasting, oftentimes with modified sleep schedules to accommodate their lives.
Dont’s:
Avoid drinking, chewing gum, or eating in public in front of those who are fasting.
Avoid smoking in public during Ramadan.
Avoid listening to music loudly during Ramadan.
