36 Initiatives To Develop Digital Content Using SR4.2 Billion Government Support

Saudi Arabia’s Digital Content Council will undertake 36 initiatives to develop local digital content by taking advantage of government support amounting to SR4.2 billion. The Council of Ministers on Tuesday approved regulating the council to stimulate the digital content market as well as to enhance its contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) and provide quality jobs.

Chairman of AmChamKSA, Tarik Solomon expresses, "I am highly encouraged to see this level of commitment from the Saudi government, which would suggest that the Kingdom is taking IP enforcement seriously in order to protect these content creators. Legislation is only one part of the equation and a SR4.2 billion commitment that uses public funding to develop digital content offers many advantages including creating jobs and enhancing human-machine interaction. However, without enforcement, where there is profit there is also a chance for corruption, which could thus cause a digital dilemma."
