U.S.-SAUDI FILM FORUM

On May 31 and June 1, 2024, the American Chamber of Commerce Saudi Arabia under its Arts, Culture, & Entertainment Committee, hosted the second annual U.S.-Saudi Film Forum in Riyadh, a series of roundtable discussions between U.S. and Saudi film industry executives focused on growing the film industry between our respective countries.
The two-day event, organized with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, facilitated collaboration between senior figures from the U.S. film industry and their established counterparts in Saudi Arabia, including producers, investors, attorneys, financiers, film companies, distributors, government, and industry executives.
The sessions were moderated by Todd Albert Nims, Director of U.S. Saudi Film Forum and Chair of the Arts, Culture & Entertainment Committee at AmCham Saudi Arabia, and included:
Structuring Film Deals for Streamers and Studios with Ismat Abidi, former Head of Business and Legal Affairs for Netflix MENA
PR Roadmap for Oscar-Winning Saudi Film with Dennis Dembia, President Entertainment Business Strategy at Rogers & Cowan
Permits, Locations and Building an Industry of Film Professionals with Colleen Bell, Executive Director at California Film Commission
Attracting Major Studios to KSA with Alexandros Koronakis, Senior Director of Government Affairs EMEA at Motion Picture Association (MPA).
The forum fostered growth and informed decision-making among key film industry players through open dialogue, roundtable discussions, and collaboration. The forum concluded with a discussion on the progress made to challenges identified in last year's inaugural forum.
