ABGR Team Victorious in 2017 Ryder Cup

The 2017 Ryder Cup Tournament, a revived tradition between the American Business Group of Riyadh and the British Golf Society, was held at Dirab Golf & Country Club Friday, November 17. The ABGR team, an eclectic mix of non-British nationalities, was led by Team Captain Thomas Merkel. Jonathan Mortell was the BGS Team Captain.

This year, the ABGR team emerged victorious. Seventy-two golfers participated in a singles and pairs match-play competition, 36 golfers on each team.

Following the tournament, the Awards Ceremony Dinner was held at the British Embassy for 150 golfers and guests. The evening was catered by the Marriott Hotel. Raffle prize winners were drawn after dinner.

Al Nakhla Residential Resort, which recently earned the title “Saudi Arabia’s Leading Luxury Residential Resort” by The World Travel Awards, was the main sponsor of the Ryder Cup Tournament.

Representatives from Etihad Airways and Abu Dhabi Tourism, the Ryder Cup main raffle sponsor, attended to present one lucky raffle winner with a flight ticket and accommodation prize.
